The area tha im going to hunt allows Shotgun or Muzzle loader
so im looking in to a new barrel for my Encor pro hunter.
Range will be between 50 to 150 yds and maybe farther.
both would be scoped and ofcorse rifled. Im looking for input
and there might be a chance for a ML hunt in New mexico. so im trying to weigh the difference. Thanks..

A rifled 20ga barrel with sabots is about like a 45-70. And a lot less effort to clean.

A 12ga barrel with sabots is quite a bit more powerful but will hit YOU harder while not killing the deer any deader.

If we could use shotguns during muzzle loader season here in FL.........what a improvement that would be.

as for the posible new mexico hunt it will be Elk ive shot ML before so i know the cleaning process and ive heard that the new inline ML are alot easer to clean and unload if you dont shoot.

I bought a 12 ga slug barrel for my encore a couple years ago. It packs a punch, especially in such a light gun. I really didn't feel like I had control over the rifle when I shot it. So I sold it and got a 20 ga barrel. I love it, and took my first buck in 10 years this year with it. It's more convenient than a ML, so I'd go with a 20 gauge.
