Colt revolving carbine, .44 cap and ball, half fluted cylinder, 12 inch 51 Navy style barrel and loading lever, made by Pietta. I didn't have them take it out of the case cause I didn't want to buy it without thinking it over. Anyone have one or handled one. The carbine stock was more massive than the Remington revolving carbine, much thicker in the wrist. I don't recall seeing this revolver before.

Is it a Colt Root revolving rifle repro (full frame, see link below), or a Colt Navy with an extended stock and barrel?
I saw one of those on GB or Auction Arms recently.

Is this the one with the removable stock like in W.E.G.s picture, or does it have the permanent stock? I let one with the permanently attached stock on a Navy frame get away a few years ago. Shoulda bought it on first sight instead of going home to think about it. When I went back, of course, it was gone.

Would be a fun novelty gun to have and shoot.

It is not the detachable shoulder stock. It is a permanently attached stock on a Navy frame. I have the Uberti Remington revolving carbine with the 18 inch barrel. This colt revolving carbine has a 12 inch barrel and the permanent stock appeared thicker and maybe a touch shorter.

Shoulda bought it on first sight instead of going home to think about it. When I went back, of course, it was gone.

I better call as soon as they open, it's only money.

I'm already over my limit this month, three revolvers and three rifles, what's one more.

This Pietta revolving carbine is a brass frame. I was thinking it was a steel frame. They want a lot for a brasser.

MCB.

That's the one I'm speaking of. I'd buy it in a minute & swap the Brass frame out for a steel one if i was gonna shoot it much. Otherwise, it's a cool variation as is.

Heck, I'm over my limit too - 4 pistols & a shotgun.

How precious is it to them?

Do they make that thing in a steel frame? I bet my nephew would be interested in one of those so long as it was a steel frame..He killed a deer just 2 days ago with a Uberti Walker down in Alabama there. Say's he hit it square in the chest and damned near knocked it a flip. I might send Pietta an e-mail They answered the last time I sent them one back when I was looking around for the Remington Cattleman's Carbine with their name on it. They might know where one could pick up a steel framed one. I'm sure they make it out there somewhere..

Finding a steel carbine frame is the fly in the ointment. They are 'asking' $425. I'm thinking $350. It is rare. You have seen just one, this is the first I have seen. Not much came up when I did a search. I'm going to call and ask a few questions. Wish me luck.

Well, it's a done deal at $350 plus freight. UPS does local overnight sometimes so I may get it tomorrow, talk about instant gratification.

Talking to the owner, he pulled the barrel and cylinder. he seemed to think it's unfired, nipples look new, no sign of firing in the chambers, recoil shield is unmarked.

This is from shop in Eugene, OR, called the Gun Works. Oregon's oldest and biggest black powder shop. I was their for the first time last Monday. It is like walking into a museum. Well over a thousand cap and flint locks, most are customs. The nicest stuff I have seen in person. All four walls are covered with upper and lower level racks of long guns and the floor is full of cases and shelves with pistols and revolvers, lot a old used stuff in nice shape. Lot of NOS guns still in the boxes. The tag prices seemed just a little high but they are easy to bargin with and we reached a agreeable price immediately.

Check their web site.

I can vouch for the Gunworks, I stop in there every time I visit my old pal in Springfield.
You just can't step out without buying something.
I just got a steel frame Pietta 1851 with 12" barrel, .44, and cut for a stock. Now I could look for a stock. It feels like a navy grip, so I wonder if a navy stock differs from an army stock?
I would very much like a 54 cal Colt Roots carbine replica.......anyone ever see one?

Isnt it a standard 51/60 frame with special BS & TG? Like I said, it's been years since I've seen one, like maybe 20.

Now that I think about it, your right , I need a 51/60 steel frame. I just happen to have a parts frame, I think it's a Pietta. I'll need to see why the arbor is loose in it.

I was setting here looking at my Remington carbine and had remmy brain for a moment.

OK, Santa came by driving a big brown truck. Here's the revolving carbine, I like the half fluted cylinder. A steel frame and a conversion cylinder may be in the future.
