Ok so I know I can swap out stocks and barrels for certain ones. With deeper research Im sure i can find a list of what swaps with what. My question is do you think its worth it to buy the barrel or just an extra gun. Right now i have a full stock, pistol stock, 12ga 18" barrel and a 410 youth barrel. I have various other guns including shotguns but I'd kind of thinking it would be nice to have the extra barrels or extra full guns because I tend to keep guns for a while then trade them off for something new. Just something that's crossed my mind tonight and was wanting some opinions. Also on the topic of getting barrels I'm not finding much on gunbroker but I can order them direct any other ideas on finding decent priced barrels like a 16 and 20 ga maybe a 28ga. thanks

You need to send the receiver back for fitting.
While barrels from one gun will drop into another guns receiver, the headspace is not always safe.
It can be too loose and gas can escape at the breech or it can be too tight and the shell can drag against the breechface and fire before the gun is locked shut.

If you have a shotgun frame (SB1), you can only have other shotgun barrels fitted...except for the 10 gauge which has its own special frame. The rifle frame (SB2) can have shotgun or rifle barrels fitted. But like Onmilo said, you have to send to gun to H&R for fitting.

I believe any of their buttstocks can be be fitted to any receiver. But the forearms might not match up perfectly. I bought a "survivor" forearm online and it didn't fit right on my 410. The screw hole lined up fine but the barrel wobbled around when opened.

Midway carries the full line of synthetic stocks for the H&R's.

Murdoc if that is a pistol grip only stock (does not have an attached butt stock), using the 18" barrel will not meet the minimum 26" minimum overall length requirement due to the short length of the receiver.

There are zillions of H&R's out there. If you look around I bet you could find used ones in 16 and 20 gauge for the price of a new barrel.

That way you'd have a couple of extra guns if you ever wanted to take a friend shooting with you.
