Used Mataba .357, should I?

Local gunstore has one with a short barrel, 4" maybe?
Sticker price is $450 and I can probably talk them down. I don't really have the money but I'm fascinated with the design. Should I get it?

It's definitely a conversation-starter of a gun.

I own one- fun to shoot, but not real practical for hunting/self defense. There's no safety, and no decocker. Once it goes bang, you're left with a LIGHT single action trigger, with no way to "make safe" other than pressing the trigger and lowering the hammer with your other hand.
fun as heck to shoot- great big noise, obviously something exciting happening at the front end...but virtually zero muzzle flip. Also, it's a neat "bar bet" winner "Yes, there is TOO such a thing as a semiautomatic revolver!"
Buy it, have fun.

I'd love one as a regular DA/SA gun...

Me too George. I've emailed every revolver manufacturer I can get my hands on begging for one. Not quite ready to "invest" in a machined from scratch revolver yet or I'd find a really good smith to make one :)
I've even toyed with the idea of making one myself but I'd need to buy or rent a LOT of equipment to pull it off.

fourdeuce82d, ya, too big and bulky for anything but a range gun. I'd like a longer barrel though so I've emailed CDNN to see if they have any left. Do you (or anyone else for that matter) know a source for barrells? I'd love the huge 8" with the comp.
