Can My 870 Shoot Slugs?

I have a Remington 870 Express Magnum. It has the smooth bore 20" barrel (I believe) and I might be going to hunt deer in the next few weeks. My question is can I shoot slugs with my current set up? I believe it has a built in choke (not sure) and the smooth bore barrel. Is there anything I need to change in order to hunt deer with slugs? What types of slugs can I use without damaging my shotgun?

20" barrels are usually cylinder bore (no choke) for buckshot and slugs. You will be fine sooting slugs from your shotgun. If the barrel doesn't have sights it will limit your ablility to effectively aim and hit at ranges much beyond 50 yds or less. A low power scope (2X) or a red dot sight can fix this without having to buy a new barre with sights or having sights mounted.
Use standard slugs and not the saboted type made for rifled tubes.

If it doesn't say Imp Cyl or Mod on the barrel it has no choke at all and is straight Cyl bore.
(Unless it has Rem-Choke tubes you can change)
It is perfectly fine for Rifled Slugs.
But not for Sabot slugs that require a rifled barrel.
