This guy called me, knew I'd hunted ducks with this kid who's a wounded vet. We all chat on a duck hunting site. He asked me about the kid cause he's offered him a hunt at his lodge. He's got rice fields and is setting up a hunting lodge. I'd only be out a one day out of state license, 28 bucks I think it was (checked on the F&W site for Louisiana). He was trying to get this kid, couldn't get back to him. I gave him the phone number. He asked if I'd come with him, but it's Tuesday next week and I have to work. :banghead: He did offer to take me sometime later for my efforts. I think he's just offering to this kid because he is a vet, wounded in Afghanistan by an IED, though he gets around a lot better than I do. LOL I call him a "kid". He's 28 years old. :scrutiny:
Anyway, it's just over the border in Lake Charles and the hunting is quite similar to us, rice fields and salt marshes. It ain't the flooded timber stuff you see on "Duck Commander". They're up near Monroe, I think, more like hunting Stutgart, Arkansas than Lake Charles, mallards vs pintail. :D But, it's dang nice of this guy to offer and I may take him up on it some day. If I can get my son-in-law to shooting a little better, I'll take him, maybe. He's just started bird hunting and he's a bit better with a rifle than a shotgun. :D
