I don't even know if this important. But I was curious so I ask around of some people who I thought should know, even some folks on other forums and no one seems to know and I can't get Winchester to answer my email.

I have several hundred win. hulls, 12 ga. On the face is stamped at 12 o'clock WIN, at 3 o'clock is HS, at 6 o'clock is 12 GA, and at 9 o'clock is AA. These are red plastic hulls. What does the HS stand for?

High Speed? Just guessing! Winchester "High Speed" used to be part of their advertising campaign years ago.

Supposedly "High Strength" I believe. Its the new 2 piece hull which is a POS compared to the older compression formed hulls. I'm still coasting on CF hulls and will buy any that I find in 28 and 410...... No, not interested in 20 or 12, don't shoot those gauges anymore........

Baily Boat is correct. It is High Strength. I don't load winchester anymore because of it. HS rounds are "let lay" and I am picking up the remington STS one piece hulls.

What about the win. grey hulls guys. Any good? How many loads do you think I can safely get out of the AAHS win. hulls I have?

Greys are the same as the reds. The guys I load with say 2 at most loads on win HS and then let them fly. They shoot rounds of sporting clays every week and do it all with reloads so I have a lot of respect for them. They buy powder and lead by the trailer full and I never seem to see them having problems with their loads. Maybe overly conservative but their success says something.

They told me as a newbie to go Remington STS 1 piece hulls and avoid the HS or steel head winchester stuff. The Winchester of modern AA is not the Winchester AA of old.

Figures, thanks eveyone. Good info. Now I know. I had a sinking feeling the HS was not good.
