REDFIELD 4-12 x 40mm

I received one the the new Redfield scopes (now a brand of Leupold & Stevens) for Christmas. It appears to be a no nonsense yet well made scope. My only disappointment is it did not come with lens caps/covers. One end takes a 40mm and the other a 46mm. I've checked Leupold's website along with Optics Planet, Midway, and even a google search. Can anyone offer any suggestions on where I can find some "snap in" or "screw on" caps to protect the lens?

According to the test I just read in the Feb. Shooting Times, they are supposed to come with screw-off lens caps.
Perhaps the store where it came from misplaced them while showing it off?
You might check with them.
Failing that, pretty sure a call to Leupold customer service would get you some free replacements.

I have that issue and went back to look at it. Where did it mention the screw caps? I must be missing it. :banghead:

Blue box on page 40 with all the specs in it.
The box marked "Turrets:" mentions the lens caps.
Course the test was on a 3-9x-40 so maybe your 4-12x-40 didn't come with caps.
I would call Leupold / Redfield and ask.

The 3x-9x-40mm test says it is made in the Leupold plant in Beaverton, OR.

The scope was made in Beaverton, Oregon..the home of Leupold. It was made in the same factory, on the same machines, by the same people that make Leupold. GUNS magazine also has an article on this new scope in their February issue. You can also see a nice little video at http://www.redfield.com/
Getting back to those caps...I think the screw off caps mentioned are the caps that cover the turret adjustment. I tried calling Leupold today but they are closed until January 2. I wrote a review on Midway USA's sight so maybe they will take the hint - to start including them!

Have you done a review of this particular scope? I'd love to hear what you think of it. I've been toying with the idea of putting it on a .25-06 Encore barrel. I like a little more than a 9x in my scopes. What do you think about the 40mm objective? Could it benefit from a larger objective?

I have one of these on a Leupold I purchased new, which also came with no covers:

They pretty much fit anything
