I've been looking for a couple of good range bags to carry my pistols to the range. Surfing around today I came across this Pelican laptop case. Looking at the dimensions I think I could fit two full sized 1911s, several magazines and even a box or two of ammo. Anyone tried this before? Even better, anyone have pictures of a setup like this?

the pelican systems are military grade. pls note NSN listing as proof. you will pay extra for that. doubt the pressure equalization valve will come in handy for your use.

I haven't used anything like that but I recently did start using our old "Eddie Bauer" diaper bag as a range bag. It is padded all over, has lots of pockets, both inside and out, and yesterday I loaded it up with two medium frame 9mm's, a Ruger MKII, two sets of safety glasses and ear muffs, and 200 rounds of 9mm ammo plus a lot of .22. I still had pockets to spare. The only downside is that it doesn't look like a diaper bag.

I bought one like that, but with about 4 more inches of depth. Over here it holds a laptop, external drive, all my cords, and other knick-nacks. When I get home, new foam is going to turn it into a good pistol case, especially for travel. Got it during a sale at AAFES, wanna say in the 60USD range.

doubt the pressure equalization valve will come in handy for your use.

Flying from high elevation to low with a tightly sealed case makes it a bear to open at the other end without it. Just sayin...

I have that case. I've modified it for use with my Kel Tec Sub-2000. It will certainly have room for 2 pistols and accessories.

Thanks for the responses guys. I have one of the larger Pelican cases I use for my FNAR and love the quality and security of it. I guess if it's worth doing it's worth over-doing.

Mokin, the diaper bag idea is a good one. We may still have one left around the house, but we've probably either consigned it or given it away by this point.
