I was talking to a friend the other night and he`s thinking of selling a few guns. He said he has a Colt 10 MM and he thinks it says Gov`t Model on the slide. Is this right? I tried looking it up but I can`t find it. I thought they`re all Delta Elites, not Gov`t Models.

The Delta Elite and triangular symbol is on the left side.On the right side below the ejection port should be stamped Government Model.

As far as I know, ALL Delta Elites have the unique Delta Elite markings on the left side of the slide, and either "COLT GOVERNMENT MODEL" or "COLT GOVERNMENT MODEL/10MM SEMI-AUTO" under the ejection port on the other. Colt also made about a dozen limited-run 10mm variants that could have all kinds of markings on them.

Thanks for the replies. When I asked him if it was a Delta Elite, he said he thought it was a Gov`t. I don`t know how much he knows about guns but I thought for sure he`d know if it said Delta on it. I`m guessing it`s been handled or fired very little.:confused:

Ask three things, can you see it, shoot it, and how much. They were available in both blue and stainless. There were a couple of blue ones for sale in the pistols for sale forum.

He works odd hours so it`s hit or miss. I told him I`d help price them to sell but he said he might just take them to the local gun dealer. I`d hate for him to do that as he won`t get near what he could privately. That`s what got me started on the Delta ??s. The Blue Book doesn`t list a G.M. 10mm as such.

The regular Blue Delta Elite is marked "Government Model" on r/side of slide. They are usually called "Delta Elite" in books.


There is also a Delta Gold Cup with adjustable sights, Gold Cup trigger, and different roll marks.
