Hi all, new guy here. I just could not go with out showing my most prized possesion. My great grand farthers 1906 L.C. smith #2 double barrel. It is an awsome condition and work perfectly. I just thought a couple of you guys would like it.

That's a pretty Elsie you have there. The fact it's a family gun makes it even better!

I like the CCH release. The condition of the CCH all around is impressive. I have a double from 1926 and most of the CCH finish is gone.

Nice shotgun! I hope you have an occasional opportunity, and safe ammo, to shoot it.:)

Good stuff. I love seeing old heirloom guns, particularly those that look as nice as yours.

Is that one a 2-1/2" chamber?

Looks in great shape.......

Nice heirloom.

Elsies were and are fine shotguns. As with all older shotguns, a checkover by a competent smith is mandatory prior to shooting even ONE shell.

Yours is probably chambered for 2.5 or 2 9/16" shells. If the smith gives his/her blessing, BP and Gamebore carry those shells in low pressure loads easy on older guns.

Also, no non toxic loads except bismuth, if that.

HTH....

Polywad and RST also have 2-1/2" low pressure loads for these older guns. Have fun with it

it shoots 2 3/4.
it was gone thru a couple years ago by an LC pro.
It is ready. I would use it with light loads only although as a kid I hunted ducks with high pwoer #6 lead many times. It just aims its self!!!!!

very nice....I have a 1895 grade 2....but not near as nice as yours...plus yours is a family heirloom...doesnt get any better than that.

The 12 gauge Elsies are all 2 3/4in but its hard to find true low pressure loads in 2 3/4in shells....Poly wad vintager, rst, and BP sub sound are all good choices for a LC....much easier on that 100 year old stock than most shells..

Like I said , as a kid in the early 70's I shot countless rounds of high power #6 lead and killed ***** out of ducks. The old girl can take todays feild loads I'm sure.

I have a few shotguns, but My 12ga Elsie is a thing of beauty.Even though it has stub-twist barrels,it's a joy to shoot with black;[ 75 gr ffg and 1oz shot]and they come to the shoulder with a natural point. I wish the modern guns handled as well. 1886 hammerless made about 1895

again, this gun just almost majacly aims it's self. you kinda can't miss on ducks. the double bead matched with the look down the twice barrel made it just go ware it was supposed too. IT'S LIKE ON RADAR:p

Oldwheelie,

LC's are fine guns, and as pointed out since this one has a family factor, even cooler.

I have the same deal going. I have my grandfather's LC, although a 'new' one, made in the late 30's. It is a field grade. The stock had been sanded down a long time ago, and someone put on Boiled Linseed Oil, which was common in the pre WWII Army from which this LC came. I know its Army as it has a flaming bomb stamped on the lug.

Accuracy and point-ability? Wow is all I have to say. That right hand tube is hell on clays from the 16 yard line.

Enjoy, wheelie, and keep us posted.
