I am trying to get a ruger 10/22 mag that is a stick, like a normal mag that is metal or dark plastic

The Butler Creek Steel Lips work well (but are clear) as do the Tactical Innovations magazines (but are costly), however the factory magazines work as good or better than anything I have tried. A bit of advice: avoid the drum magazines like the plague.

I have 7 Ruger 10 22's and have had outstanding experience with Steel lips, but was breaking in a new 10 22 today and it was a jam o matic. I am so pissed off. First time in 20 years to have jammminmg problems with a 10 22.

I was using Federal bulk packs which usualy feed perfectly. I hope the QC of Ruger has not gone down hill.

Good magazines: check.
Good ammunition: check.
Good rifle: :uhoh:

It might just take a while to break in (or a bad lot of ammo, it does happen from time to time)...don't know as old trusty keeps pluggin' away. By all accounts the new models are just as good as (some say better than) the old models. As for me, i'll take mine with aluminum parts, thank you, and leave the plastic for everyone else (not to suggest it is bad...just not my cuppa tea).

The following site is amongst my favorite reloading/gun parts/ accessories sites...apparntly Butler Creek makes Steel Lips in smoke now (which is what I would suggest), and the one at the bottom is made by Tactical Innovations (for Volquartsen) IIRC. Midway USA: 10/22 Magazines (http://www.midwayusa.com/browse/BrowseProducts.aspx?pageNum=1&tabId=7&categoryId=15089&categoryString=10613***687***11341***8904***)

The Tactical Innovations 30 round mags come in dark plastic or metal. They are the only mag that is as reliable as oem that I have used, including steel lips. Plus they are adjustable, you can adjust the feed angle with set screws.
