I ordered a California Compworks "speedstipper" from Brownells. It holds six rounds of shotgun ammo, stacked horizontally in a U shaped carrier, secured to your belt with a large metal clip.

It appears well made. I am not however happy about the redesign they did on it. The unit I ordered was made to work with 2 3/4" shells. The unit I got was a "new, improved" unit that will also take 3" shells. They do this by using a set of shims that are secured, with....small velcro pads. There is no way these things are going to last and the shim will end up falling out on the range deck somewhere. This is a bad idea in my opinion. I think I will Super Glue my shim in place and be done with it. I never use magnums for defense work so this "benefit" is none to me.

Will report on how the holder itself works after a class in a couple of weeks.

I've been using those with the shims for a little over a year. I've had no problems. Mine doesn't have velcro, it has two sided tape.

As for how much I use them, up until a few months ago, I was using them in competition every weekend. During that time, I did a faceplant going full speed and they stayed put. Not one of my better moments.

It may work but the little velcro dots, less than 1/2 " wide just seem jicky to me. Will give it a try. If it don't work, out comes the Super Glue!

one of th better mods i've seen to these is lining the u shaped brackets in neoprene. this holds the rounds in place even more securely and also prevents rattles.

these carriers have been maligned in the past by people as being untactical, but they work, and seem like a good way to hold shotgun ammo.
