I need some new nipples

I can't find Treso nipples for Pietta Remingtons anywhere. No one has them in stock. I found these stainless ones at Cabelas but don't know if they are any better than the stock ones. Has anyone here used them?

Track of the Wolf's catalog number for Treso M6x0.75 thread revolver nipples (for Pietta revolvers, including the Remington) is PIR-A; they are currently listed as "Accepting Orders", which means they're out of stock.
The Possible Shop simply says they're "Temporarily Out Of Stock"; their catalog number is 12-50-10.
The Gun Works wants $13.75 to ship ONE nipple; $41.25 for 6. No commitment as to in or out of stock.
The Cabela's stainless steel nipples are good nipples, not, however up to the Treso standard. Better than OEM nipples, though, so if you need new nipples, get some. It may be a while before anybody gets restocked with Tresos.

I bought an extra set of stainless nipples when I bought my '58 Rem in stainless, now I wish I hadn't and gotten a set of Treso instead. I have to egg #11 caps to keep them on. Are the Treso the right size for #11 so I wouldn't have to egg them anymore? I envy the people that can just slip a cap on straight from the tin.

What brand of No. 11's are you talking about? They're not all the same size:

Regarding your regret about buying stainless steel nipples: if you couldn't get any Tresos because they're all sold out would you have preferred to stop shooting and just wait until they were restocked? I don't think so.

Smiling Jack, I am NOT hijacking this thread! Just want to say something here. I appreciate that link you just posted to The Gun Works. You know, I just shoot my guns now and then, clean them, and go on about my business which I don't have much of anyway. That's why I'm on the computer so much! Man, every time I turn around I am learning about a new site or store or supply house for black powder products. This black powder field is huge and still growing evidently. 'These People' are NEVER going to get our guns, they may as well just give up on it! Well anyway, it make's me feel good while I sit here thinking about it and working on my second cup of coffee..GOTC..

Wittzo, I slip right from the tin. Remington #10 on my '58's, '49's, Cattlemans's, and Remington #11 on my '47's, 1st Model, and NAA .22 Mini Mag's. From day one right on through today, NEVER ANY PROBLEM. If I replace nipples, (very seldom) I use the same type of nipples that came on the piece and MADE BY THE SAME PEOPLE WHO MADE THE PARTICULAR PIECE I'M REPLACING THE NIPPLES ON. IT'S BEEN MANY A LONG YEAR AND I HAVE YET TO EXPERIENCE ANY PROBLEMS WITH SLIPPING A CAP ON OR WITH THE CAP STAYING ON....

When I saw the tag line "I need some nipples" I thought I would finally find out who told Jeff Foxworthy the story about a beaver biting off his nipple.

I've got a Stainless Pietta Remington '58. I've used Winchester, CCI, and Remington caps, all #11. I read on someone's thread where they measured the caps. Winchester and CCI are supposedly the same product. I've read that the Pietta nipples are #10. I found an article where you can make a tool to put a crimp on your cap skirts that make them more snug, but I think it was for #10 caps.
#11 is all I can get locally, one day, I'll order a mix of 500 #10 caps from various manufacturers so the hazmat fee doesn't hurt that much and give them a try. I ordered the extra nipples with my pistol for "just in case", but after hundreds of rounds, the original nipples are still in good shape and the extras are still in their package.

Wittzo, I'vd got a stainless Pietta '58 laying in a cabinet about 4 feet from where I'm sitting typing this. Remington #10 percussion caps fit it perfectly just like the accompanying manual reccomended....

How bad are yours. you could try the drill trick. tape up the threads very very good and thick. put it in a drill press. spin the drill and use a hardened stone to reshape the nipples. on a drill press takes about 4 minutes start to finish per nipple.

OH and nipples shaped by hand often make egg shaped nipples...
That's a great yolk...I love egg noodles but not poached nipples.
I adjusted a nipple by hand once and it came out fine. No yoke! :D

Both Track of the Wolf and October Country are out of Tresos for Piettas. However, Track of the Wolf makes their own stainless nipples -- product #PIR-S -- and so I ordered six of them. I figure they might be better than what Cabela's sells.
