Costa Mesa or Del Mar

I went to the Costa Mesa show a couple months ago. It was like 3 warehouses, but most of the stuff was crap. I miss the ol' days when they used to have shows at the LA Fairgrounds. Looks like your probably have to look at the nevada shows for the good stuff.

Gosh I miss the "Big Pomona Show". Something about "8 miles of tables" always brought a tear to my eyes. This of course was back before the Beef Jerky/ Beannie Babies invasion.

Don't forget the Asian Sock Vendors :p

I always thought that was weird, but then the cotton socks did make nice gun cleaning cloths :D

I haven't been to a good show since they closed Pomona :( After that, they all just seemed like accessory shows :( As sad as it is, the closest good show prolly is in Reno :(

The Costa Mesa show has gotten better, though its nowhere near what it or the Anaheim stadium shows were pre AWB. :(

I still remember buying my first Ruger Security Six for cash and a handshake Back In The Old Days ... hey! Pull My Finger!

BTW, both NRA and GOA recruiters will give you a free ticket in for membership or renewal - and if you don't scrub off your hand stamp :uhoh: entrance is good for both days.

I usually work both the NRA booths and the West End Gun Club booth - stop by and say hello.

Defintely NOT Ventura Fairgrounds, either. Though there is usually a bulk ammo seller that is worth buying from. Rest is accessories and "collector" baloney. Two small buildings.

I also miss the LA Fairplex Great Western biggest gunshow on Earth.

My advice for SoCal - Cashman Field. Vegas. Take care of all your vices in one trip :)

The Ventura show used to be great, usually 3 buildings worth of stuff.

But I noticed it really went down hill fast with 2 things happening, first was the stupid AW ban and second was the even more ludicrous "approval bill" for handguns which killed off the selling of guns not on the list but not considered antique or curio. Really sucks cause there used to be tons of nice old S&Ws at the shows when I went to the Ventura show in the past.

I will say this, the Ventura show is light years beyond any crappy old gunshow that has come to the Kern County/Bakersfield area in the past 2 years. I have family in Ventura so I can go down and enjoy the weekend, while down there I'll usually stop by the show and pick up some ammo from the vendors. I also enjoy going down there to make fun of the ASA dorks(Bob and Sara are usually there somewhere), last time I was down there I almost got eaten by one of the big dogs that was hiding under the table. I heard a loud growling as I walked by and absolutely froze, seems another person with their dog was walking by and this beast hidden under the table was half rearing to go through me to get to the other dog.

Mark Serbu tends to come out for the Ventura show and I believe I've seen the folks responsible for the Windrunner there as well.

MUCH better show than the lame shows here in the valley.

Next weekend there's a gunshow in Costa Mesa (29-30), probably the best your gonna get. The promoters for the Great Western won their lawsuit against L.A. and decided to move it to Texas.

Make that friendly drive to Phoenix December 5-7 for our largest show of the year, the combined Crossroads of the West and Small Arms Review. It takes two days just to go through everything, and the third to see your favorites!
