Rifle Shopping?????

The other day I went to Bass Pro shop in Springfield, MO as I live about 45 min away to look at rifles. I was tired of ready about them and living in an online dream about them. I just wanted to lay my hands on them and fell the weight of each and shoulder them and work the bolt a few times. I have been researching rifles and gathering opinions for the last few weeks in anticipation of my new purchase.

I looked rifles from $450 to $675. I looked at the Browning Xbolt, the Ruger Haweye, the Remington CDL, XHR and SPS, the Thompson Venture, the Tikka T3, and the Sako A7 rifle.

While this is solely my opinion I really liked the Sako A7 30.06 rifle. It was at the top of the price range but I just like the way it shouldered and the smoothness of the bolt. While both the Thompson Venture and Tikka T3 were also great, I just thought the Sako A7 was it in my mind. Has anyone shot this rifle it is guaranteed to shoot a 5 shot MOA?
I would like to hear anything positive or negative about the Sako A7 30.06 rifle. Although it is at the very top of my price range it is the one that I was drawn to regardless of price. I picked out a new Zeiss Conquest 3x9 by 40mm scope to put the icing on the cake. I also looked at scopes for awhile. I looked at the Leupold, Nikon Monarch, and the Zeiss. To me I like the Zeiss best. So I would also like to know anything positive or negative about Zeiss scopes.

I felt like a kid in a candy store and I am hoping to make this purchase soon but I have to wait a few more weeks and save up a few more dollars but this is what impressed me the most. I don’t think I will ever take my old Remington 710 rifle (bolt sticks closed constantly) with the cheap basic model Nikon scope (several years old and not fog or water proof) to the woods ever again.

I know a lot of dudes at my range that do, also a lot of rimfire guys swear by the Quad, I myself have never shot one, but I have seen them old and new.
I have never, ever heard one bad word said about a sako, whether talking about price, reliability, quality, or accuracy.
So if you got one, then Kudos to you sir, Champagne and toilet paper for all my
friends!!!!

Don't be doggin the old Nikons though; that is a great scope, and it should have a no b.s. lifetime wrrnty; so if it has a prob, send it back to mfgr, and they will fix, but I am sure you will have to pay shipping both ways.
As far as Zeiss goes, You could proly say that Zeiss is a top 5 alltime scope mfgr., along with Schmidt/Bender, U.S. optics, I.O.R., and a few others.
Usually when you see shows, showing you giant telescopes, or high end microscopes, chances are Zeiss made the glass...

Oh yeah, I am also liking your Browning and Tikka choices, I would also not overlook a Wetherby sub m.o.a. guaranteed rifle either; they are supernice, and you should check one out first, before deciding on the Sako; I think if you like the Sako, you will also really enjoy a nice Wetherby.
there are several in the Vanguard line, both wood and synth stocks, but only 1 or 2 versions
with a guarantee sub moa.

I really liked the Sako A7 30.06 rifle.

That pretty much answers your question I think.

I would get the SKS myself,... but that's just me. http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd7/rkba2da/smileys/evil.gif

Sakos have changed over the years, but have always enjoyed a good reputation. You have paid your dues with the 710 POS, so now get into a fine rifle that can give you a lifetime of good service.

Zeiss is also highly regarded, but you may want to check out the new Minox Z series scopes.

I had a Sako .270 about 20 years ago. It was, hands down, the best rifle I ever owned. Excellent quality and easy to shoot. If the quality hasn't changed and I could afford it, that would definately be my choice. And, a 10X (not variable power) Leupold is, IMHO, the type of glass that a quality rifle should wear.

The A-7 is a good rifle. It is not significantly better than the Tikka and not worth the extra money in my opinion.
