They are very reliable and their accuracy can be fixed fairly in expensivly.
First off most would suggest a simple pin on muzzle brake, it seems to help alot with the barrel harmonics. Second most recommended mod is to bed the stock, it tends to reduce the 'flyers' syndrome.
As for the value the folding stock if it is an actual Ruger stock is worth around 150 itself and if the mags are Ruger figure 60 to 70 each.
Mini-14's aren't sniper rifles that's for sure but they are also not the spawn of satan alot of people make them out to be either.

Tim,

Yes, mine was very reliable and as all Rugers, stout!! Some are more accurate than others and they can be made to shoot much better, but it takes some work. It's a great throw behind the seat of the pickup, ranch rifle, just not a tack driver. Back before all the hoopla about high capacity magazines, they were inexpensive enough to buy one for that purpose.

Good Luck

To answer your question Tim, the Blue Book (#23) lists it at $480 to $550 if it is in 95% to 98% grade. The normal capacity magazines should add an additional $150 or more if they are genuine Ruger 20 rounders, a little less if they are Ruger 10 rounders and a lot less if they are after market mags.

The fact that it legally has a folder should drive up the price considerably. Mini-14's with documentable preban folders are extremely scarce. If I had one and wanted to sell it (which I wouldn't), I'd try to find someone who REALLY wanted a documented legal folder, because they would probably be willing to pay a premium for it.

The prices I quoted included a $125 premium for the folding stock. But, you're right, if you can find the right buyer, they might pay considerably more. The Blue Book is only a guide, not a catalog. You can find bargains and non-bargains at prices a lot lower or higher for the same firearm as quoted in it.
