Please excuse the question, i am kind of new the the handgun world. I recentley bought a 9mm Stoeger Cougar. Will using the decocker cause any unwanted wear on the firearm? I am aware that you should not dry fire the weapon without snap caps, but will flipping the decocker cause damage in any way with an empty chamber?

Thank you

In a word...No. :)

You don't use the decocker that often, anyway. Dry firing is often done for both practice and to smooth out the trigger -- which results in tens of thousands of dry firing events. You only use the decocker when loading the weapon.
