Since about Thanksgiving it has really been good to be me. I came across this trio of revolvers at various shops in town.

The top one is an Armi San Marco 2nd model Dragoon .44 with a 2 digit serial number. It was pretty gummed up when I got it. I doubt that it has ever been fired. I know it has never been oiled. It cleaned up well though. A few dings on the grips and a couple of scratches, but she'll shoot.

The next one down is an older .36 caliber Navy Arms Uberti 1862 Police with 4 1/2 inch barrel. This one had a broken hand. A order from DGW, two days wait and an hour fitting the new hand and spring made this one a sweetie for sure.

The one on the bottom is an unfired Uberti 1858 Remington New Army .44 caliber.

Its been a good month.

...in my area recently, I've snagged a GP100 3", a KP90, a KP90DC, all at great prices...plus a P90 for my son...some cash, some trade...all great guns....love them nasty ole pawnshops!!! You've gotten a lot of history there in those three...congrats!!!

Pawn shops in my area wont even take them in. Ive looked for several years and talked to owners. They are just not interested.

Have you thought about leaving a contact phone number with a pawnshop owner you trust? If sombody brought something in, he could call you. If you make a deal, maybe throw five or ten bucks to the shop owner for his help.:D

My best pawn shop find was in 1992, when my son saw a Dan Wesson revolver for $200 and called me. It was a 357Max and they couldn't sell it because the owner said that they don't make bullets for it anymore. I controlled my desire and bargained it down to $160 with a sighned form that I would not try to return it. It's shot many rounds since and I've added barrels to make it a set.

Same here. i have gone to 3 pawn shops in the last month. went to one last week. Plenty of guitars. however not 1 gun.

Here, only about half the shops sell firearms and the rest don't. I try to make the rounds about once a week. I know one shop that had about 10 BP revolvers on Thursday of last week. I need to get out of town more though, expand my search for more fertile grounds. I keep walking over the same plowed ground every week.

My only pawn shop gun is a 1947 Enfield No.5 Mk.1 Jungle Carbine in excellent condition, for $150. Somebody had removed the rear sight assembly, then drilled and tapped the receiver and mounted a scope on it, but I found a complete rear sight assembly for $30 at Numrich. The D&T kinda ruined the collector value, but it's in beautiful shape otherwise. All numbers match, great bore, and it's scoped!

The absolute best deal I got at a pawn shop was my 1993 Uberti Colt WALKER for $185 that was about 3 years ago

Pawnshop in my home town was asking $300-350 for italian .44's BPowder. They had a nice little chrome 5 shot cap n ball, I think, pocket size for $210. Way to high for me.

Pawn shops in my area are prohibited by law from pawning guns. Keystone People's Republic.

When I lived in Virginia, I would make the rounds of some pawn shops and gun stores. I got some deals then. In particular, an early Ruger Old Army for $100.00, a custom flint pistol at a very good price and a 50-70 Trapdoor for $50.00.. At Potomac Arms in Alexandria VA., i got (5) 577-450 Martini Henry long levers for $60 a piece. Ah, those were the days.

It's not illegal for pawnshops in PA to sell guns, there are plenty of them that do it but they need an ffl just like anywhere else.

My best score at a pawn shop:
A Pedersoli Kodiak .72 double rifle. w/ a can of lead balls.
Not a mark on it- just like new. They had it tagged as a 10 gauge shotgun. The guy couldn't figure out why anyone would shoot lead balls out of a shotgun.
Price: $300.
Last time I checked, Cabelas was getting around $1100.
I still laugh about that one.

Hello friends and neighbors // Saw the thread and hardly agree, I haven't seen many BP firearms though.

Todays finds were a 1991 Remington 870 Express Magnum ,20ga., w/ 21" VR ,modified screw in choke , 13" stock counting recoil pad. It looks like it has never been fired inside and out but that will change this weekend.:D

I also picked up a Marlin 30AW, .30-30 with a Bushnell 3X9 wideview scope over see through rings and a sling.
Another thread, "guns you don't regret selling", reminded me how perfect these rifles are for South Carolina brush hunting. (still don't regret selling mine other one a 336)

I always like to do a package deal so I added a box of ammo for each and a couple of DVDs, if they make a little money on the odds and ends I usually get a better price on the firearms, everyone was smiling in the end and that is what counts.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who did not understand post #17.
Wish I could find a BP deal but nothing at the pawn shops or garage sales for me..... yet.

In 1978 in an old Texas railroad town I walked into a pawnshop. Looked around a little bit...when I looked at the guns in the rack on the wall two caught my eye...a Remington Nylon 66 and a 12 gauge dbl-barrelled coach gun. Twenty dollars for both and out the door I went. The 66 was in great shape. The coach gun's stock was bare of finish and had no butt plate...metal was 100% clean and blued...bores were mirror-like....action tight as a drum... Russian-made..by Tula!!!!
Refinished the stock in TruOil and added a nice brown recoil pad...was my fav snake gun along the banks of the bayou. I regret to this day selling those guns!

In my neck of the woods the pawn shops are insane.
One of the local shops has a brass framed '58 Rem re-pro marked $300!
I tried to explain to the guy that that same gun sells for less than $200 brand new. He replied he didn't care as his "market" din't shop on-line.
I gave up.

Another shop sometimes has some really nice guns come in but the owner knows about gunbroker.com and prices them according to what he sees on there.

Yet another shop is just crazy. They have an older used/abused ASM Walker for $699! :what: That gun has been sitting there for 2 YEARS untouched.

Loosenock, Nice find on those two Ubertis. Your luck is much better than mine when it comes to pawn shops. They are a waste of time around my parts. Tthey are getting ridiculous with their pricing. Much better of buying them new.,
An ASM 1861 Remington New Army $250 Brass framed Colt with lots od loose play between the frame and barrel $175. They sure are proud of them and they can keep them. I don't even waste my time checking them any more.

I've NEVER found anything I wanted in a pawn shop. I thought I wanted to look at a Rem. 870 ( for my sons 14 ht birthday ). A guy reached over my shoulder to ask about it...then told his buddy to call the police. His gun...stolen about two weeks earlier. I went home.

They think highly and dearly of every piece of rust.

The police have been performing stings on pawn shops around the state and arresting the owners for accepting goods that they should have known were probably stolen. Many pawn shop owners have been arrested as a result. Now back to the regularly scheduled program...:D

Last I heard... in my State, if you've reported something stolen, the Police are supposed to provide that information (for guns at least) as a "hot sheet" to the local pawn shops... and the shop keepers report those coming in before they contribute to the problem.

Do they do that with power tools and such too? I dunno... but, IF the entities DO follow those rules... it's a good thing for those of us who become victims of the turds (theoretically).

I spent a few hours at one of the local pawnshops BSing with the owners father that was manning the counter and could have walked out with a BEAUTIFUL IH Garand for $550. Sometimes it pays to be personable.

Great shooter, great condition, built like a tank. Never regretted that buy.

In regards to stolen items at a pawnshop, most states require that the pawn shop at the end of a business day present a printout of all items taken in during that days business. Then the local police are suppose to compare that list with items that were reported stolen. However I have seen cases where an item was back tracked and even though the report was given to the local police it was overlooked or never even looked at. I know one pawn shop that lost their FFL license due to what could be called shady dealing. But I still can not pass up a visit to pawn shops and if I see a new one I will turn around and make the rounds.
