Some fellers on the Mythbusters Forum suggested a postal shoot in which you afix a deck of shuffled cards to a backboard, back off 30 yards, and try for the best hand. So I went out and gave it a try today. With my '51 Navy, I only hit two cards. One bullet went over the top row, one under the bottom row, and one hit between two cards. With my .22 Colt Woodsman I managed this: A,Q,7,5,2. At 30 yards I can't tell clubs from spades or hearts from diamonds, so shooting for a flush was out. I tried a shot at each Ace, although even then it was hard to tell an Ace from anything else for my poor old eyes, much less hit one.
Give it a try, it's harder than you think! At least it was for me.:D
If anyone is interested, we could try it here with all cap and ball, and maybe shorten the range a bit. Say 10 yards. Whatcha think?
It was fun, but frustratin'.
