Thinking about purchasing a Remington 750 Woodsmaster. Can anyone with first-hand experience advise on this rifle? Thanks!

My grandfather used a 742 woodsmaster for many, many years and shot many many deers (deer, I know. I couldn't resist)

the 742 gets a bad rap, but I have used my grandfather's and It was nothing but reliable, and provided another round...very quickly. I think the 750 is very similar, so if the price is right, I'd go for it!

I have an old 740 and works perfectly.

However with the 7400 and the 750, Remington, supposedly, fixed the "chewing" of the rail by the bolt carrier.

In few years the Remington semi autos (an the may be among the few centerfire self-repeating rifles allowed for private ownership in America....

Have always had one for nostalgia sake cuz "grand dad" had one. My opinion is they are fine but there are better deer hunting options for less $ out there. Who needs to shoot at a deer 5 times in 3 seconds anyway? A good bolt or single shot that makes ya put em down in one shot is the way to go for me. :D
