Ohio Gun Guy January 3, 2010, 07:56 AM Went to the Gun Show and something followed me home. I just couldnt get past the price.... :D Of the several wasr rifles I looked at, there were none with canted sights or gas blocks. I only tried the magazine fit in the one I bought; but they do not wobble and appear to have shims to prevent this. Overall the rifle seems well built, especially for what I read on the Interwebs. It seems they are addressing the problems.
The before is after de-greasing & Cleaning, but before Lube
The after is after oil & some stain & wax on the stock
Then there is the 7.62x39 "Family" photo :D

THE DARK KNIGHT January 3, 2010, 08:34 AM Can't go wrong with that! Nice gun.
Ohio Gun Guy January 3, 2010, 10:14 AM thanks
Ohio Gun Guy January 3, 2010, 04:12 PM Just to bring this back up, when more folks are on. :o
jokusfocus January 3, 2010, 04:15 PM What kind of stain/wax did you use?
Grassman January 3, 2010, 04:18 PM What did you give for it?
Ohio Gun Guy January 3, 2010, 04:23 PM Kiwi Shoe polish. - Brown
Its just a tinted paste wax. It will stain the wood but the best part is, it is semi perminant. If it needs touched up, just put more on. Put it on fairly heavily, two or three coats. Then buff well. To get a better level of protection, you can use furniture paste wax later....but you have to let the shoe polish set a day or so; or the paste wax will lift it.
I have used it before on wood projects, if its something dont intend to poly urithane over.
Ohio Gun Guy January 3, 2010, 04:25 PM I gave 399.00 for it "out the door". (After tax)
fireman 9731 January 3, 2010, 04:29 PM Sweet deal, especially for a show. I love my WASR 10. Now go buy a few cases of Silver Bear and break it in!
jokusfocus January 3, 2010, 04:44 PM I love my WASR, but I have been waiting to find for a good color for the wood. We might have found a winner. Thanks!
CosmicGrooves January 3, 2010, 11:01 PM I saw my first WASR at the gun show yesterday and those WASR's look like they were taken from the hands of a dead skeleton that's been laying in the desert for a couple months. That rustic wood cannot be created any other way. :P
Kimber45acp January 3, 2010, 11:05 PM Excellent price. I feel VERY good that new shooters will be met with decent prices like that.
