Yes, however you're going to have lousy shot patterns and poor accuracy with longer shots.

I would prefer not to shoot anything other than slugs of the sabot kind out of a rifled barrel.

What kind of shotgun are you talking about?

If its a common one I would shop around for a smooth bore barrel for shot loads.

You can, but the rifling in the barrel will cause some weird patterns, depending on the type of shot/wad column. If you have shells without the "cup" around the shot, expect large amounts of barrel lead fouling to occur.

i was just curious,:) i've been thinking about a mossberg bolt action. i have a remington 870 and i thought about just getting another barrel for it but i kinda want a bolt action. how much penertration would you have with them sabot (out of a fully rifled barrel) and how about range?

The Hastings WadLock II barrels are rifled, with straight rifling. Mine patterns very well.

Last deer season I tried shooting 2 3/4" S&B 00 Buckshot out of a fully rifled Remington 870 to see if I could use them when jump shooting deer. At 15 yards ZERO pellets hit a man sized silhouette target. It shot slugs just fine but hated buckshot. This was out of a Remington factory rifled barrel.

Cosmose, you get enough penetration with sabots and a little more range. I'd draw the line around 100 yards in any case, shotguns are not long range tools.

For longer ranges, get an '06.
