What are your recommendations for a good compact/light 9mm for concealed carry?

Thanks.

How small do you need? I normally recommend the USPc 9 to as many people as are willing to ask. If you are looking for smaller, there are the sub compact Glock 26 & the tiny Kahr PM 9. Me, I just don't like the dangling pinky.

Rohrbaugh or Sig 239, if you don't mind spending the dough.

All of these are good guns.
For a "carry 9", I tried the KelTec, S&W9c, Glock 19 and 26, maybe a couple of others......

The only one I've actually carried more than a couple of times is my current PM9.
Drop it in a pocket and forget it.

Whooops. I hate it when I accidentally hit 'submit' on advice I know is unsound. Fortunately for you, there is an an 'edit' button.

ip568,

I love my Glock 19. Not a big fan of the Glock 26. I don't feel that the smaller size of the 26 offers enough of a concealment advantage over the 19 to justify the snappier recoil, less comfortable grip, shorter sight radius, and lower capacity. That said, if you find the 26 comfortable to fire and you can hit accurately and consistently with it but can't really conceal the 19 (or heck, even the Glock 17) then by all means go for the 26. You may also want to consider the Springfield XD-9 or compact XD-9. Walther P99 would also be another worthwhile consideration.

But IMO, its nearly impossible to go wrong with the big boys in the market: Glock, Sig, H&K, Beretta, Ruger, Walther, Springfield, Kahr.

The following is strictly my opinion, so anyone who responds, do keep that in mind: I do not like Taurus semi-autos yet. Of the ones I have fired - admittedly not that many - they have either been unreliable, unergonomic, or uncomfortable to fire. I also do not like Smith & Wesson semi-autos. I happen to have one, but that was kind of a lark. I've had poor experiences with them and I also think Smith & Wesson should stick to making revolvers.

I like the XD-9 sub-compact. Fits my hand perfectly and conceals well.

When I must go lower profile than a 45 light weight commander, I go with a PM9. I no longer even consider fly weight calibers as any sort of an option. The 9mm is weak enough. Watch-Six
