I have a Browning rifle that came with a matte blue finish from the factory. After seeing another one just like it but with polished blue, I just have to have it. I am wondering if there is any way to polish the blue on my rifle, or am I better off just trading it?

The only way to get a high-polish blue on a matt finish rifle is to send it off to a bluing shop and have it polished & reblued.

There is no way you can do it yourself.

If the rifle shoots well, I would just learn to live with it.
It's the hot set-up in hunting circles anymore because the dull finish won't flash light around and spook game.

Yea that's what I figured. The rifle shoots very well, which is why I was hoping there was something I could do to this one.

You're right, I should just learn to live with it.

Yeah, the polish has to be on the steel BEFORE it's blued. Just like with chrome plating.

:( And i'm guessin a reblueing job would cost about as much as trading in on a new rifle, right?

For a Weatherby quality high-polish blue job, at least as much.
Probably $300+ from a reputable finisher able to do it right.

Finding someone who can blue is easy. Finding someone who can polish correctly is another matter.
