Will acetone damage anodized aluminum? I'm trying to remove blue Locktite from my AR-15 lower receiver buffer tube threads, supposedly acetone will do the trick. However, I don't want to damage the anodizing.

Acetone won't harm the anodizing. I use it all the time to degrease parts prior to using locktite.

Acetone won't harm anodized aluminum.....matter fact we use acetone at work to clean anodized aluminum in one of our assembly processes.

Did it last night, worked like a charm. No damage was noted. Thanks for the reassurance and info; I was just double checking, I didn't want to ruin the finish on my Ar-15.
