i will be buying a hand gun for the first time.
well, where i live there are only 2 good gun shops.
in the past, both stores has been broken-into couple of times.
should i be worried about something, if i bought gun from them and later in the future they got broken into again?

What?
What does a future break-in at the store have to do with you buying a gun from them? You pay for your gun, you take possession, and the transaction is closed out. What the hell are you asking?

I don't see a problem. Unless you plan on storing your purchase in those stores...

Not sure I understand. Why would a store being broken into after I've patronized them be an issue?
Are you worried about forms containing personal information being stolen and somehow used against you? If so, I can assure you that anyone who breaks into a gun shop is not interested in the paperwork.
Other than that, I can't see any possible concerns.

by all means go buy the gun before some puke takes it

Unless you think their faking the break-ins to sell the guns illegally and simply don't want to give them your business, I think you're fine. Though I suppose they could steal your personal information from your 4473. A dealer near me here has been robbed twice, and I still buy from him. My 2 cents.

I agree with kingpin. What exactly are you talking about? 4473s being stolen?

the probability the thieves are putting stolen firearms into the safe is quite small, so I think you're okay on that front :)

People who don't know the proper use of capitalization in a sentence make me take them and their questions far less seriously.

I have two thoughts about this.... No, make that three. I agree with the puncuation comment. Also, this OP may have the same problem I have... from time to time I post while enjoying a few cocktails....
As far as the concern. I suppose if the owners of this store have not taken measures to minimize the breakins, that they may have other lapses in judgment. Another thing to consider would be if you were putting the gun on lay-a-way... other then then. Who cares?

Not to thread hijack, but if I were to hit a gun store that's exactly what I'd take. The personal information on those 4473's, used for ID theft, would net a lot more in the long run with much less risk of being caught and serving time in jail than stealing even a single firearm would.

I think the only thing to really worry about is, did they steal all the good guns?:D

Another benefit to realoading.
You don't have to worry about someone breaking into the local gun store and stealing all the ammo for your particular firearm after you buy it.
Either that, or you could buy plenty of ammo when you take posession of the gun.
This way, break in's won't affect you after you leave.

I dont think most bad guys breaking into gun stores are thinking about the 4473's.

Is the OP in a state with a waiting period? I don't know how waiting periods work (since VA doesn't require one) so maybe my logic is off here. All I can think of is that the OP is concerned that, having purchased a gun, if his gun is stolen during the waiting period he'll be somehow held responsible for crimes committed using his gun.
Not to worry: no doubt the gun shop will file a police report. The cops will know the gun was stolen.

I could see the scenario of thieves stealing the 4473 forms which then can be resold for ID theft as well as providing a nice list of addresses with a high likelihood of housing more firearms, so I don't think it's a really silly question to ask. But, the same can be said for most other stores like jewelry stores. If they keep your address and receipts on file, then there's that possibility. I wouldn't worry about it that much though, but if it bugs you that much, drive to another store even if it means a day trip.

If I was an identity thief who had a liking for stealing guns too, I would just crack the database of online dealers for someone's personal info. Much more useful data and far less risky to me.

Don't put your SSN on the 4473...it's not required.

It isn't like an ID thief needs an SSN. All they need is your name, address, and birthdate.

I'm guessing that most gun stores keep their bound books well secured. "Sorry, Mr. F Troop, some dude came in and took it!" Does anyone think that BATFE will go for the "some dude defense" when the law requires the FFL to keep the records for 20 years?

The only stupid question is the one unasked. I think the OP was talking about the 4473. That has almost every bit of info needed to take ones ID and go off purchasing boats and video games.
Not to worry: no doubt the gun shop will file a police report. The cops will know the gun was stolen.
Don't be so sure of that, I personally know of a pawn shop (not gun shop) that had several pistols "stolen" and they were actually selling them in the back to people who couldn't pass a background check. They got found out by a man with loose lips and smart off duty cop.

People who spend their time worrying about others' grammar need to rethink their reasons for visiting these forums at all. Let's try not to ridicule someone whose level of writing might not be to the caliber that yours is... especially when English may be their second language. I love the elitist attitudes that so many people here claim to despise, then quickly embrace whenever they feel like rubbing someone's face in the dirt.
Fix your sig too, it makes you seem like a real tool.

I wouldn't worry about it myself. It would help if we know why you was concerned though.
