A suggestion... maybe?

Hi. I have a suggestion for the MODS. But first I want to say that for the most part you guys are great, and do us all a wonderful service.

The suggestion I have is this. When a user posts something that perhaps has been posted many times before, or is maybe a little out of the THR boundaries you could delete the thread instead of making what could be considered rude comments to the/about the user and then just locking the thread. Locking a thread to me is an invitation to open it and see what rule was broken.

It would perhaps save the users some humiliation if you deleted the thread and PM'd the user as to what why.

Just a suggestion. I know that this user will think twice before posting now.

just didn't want you to think you were being singled out... :) seriously, don't sweat it. it was a good video, else everyone else wouldn't have posted it

granted, it's hard to tell from vbulletin's search, which totally sucks. you're better off using google advanced search and specifying thehighroad.org as the domain

I guess I will try that the next time. Thanks.

I thought the humiliation was considered a vital element in the learning process? ;)

We've tried both ways and both have drawbacks. Best thing is to simply state why the thread was closed without any intent to ridicule the OP.
