I'm a newbie and have never been to a range before. Do some ranges have gun lockers to store your firearm in?

Any in Tucson, AZ that anyone knows of? What are the rates to rent these things?

I don't wanna be nosey but why would you want to store your guns outside of your home?

I don't mind you asking - It's because I am a student at UofA here, and guns are not allowed in our dorms, or on school property. I wanted to be sure that before I go out and buy a pistol that I would have someplace to store it legally. I guess if gun lockers don't exist, I will just have to buy it next year.

Actually, the ranges that tend to have gun lockers available also tend to be near universities that don't allow firearms on campus. The easiest way to find out the price/availability of lockers at local ranges is to call and ask.

Another alternative, and probably better from a security standpoint, is to use rental guns. No worries about the gun getting stolen between sessions and you get a chance to experience a few different models and calibers. Rental guns may not be as expensive as you'd think either. I used to shoot at one range where the rental was free as long as you bought all the ammo for it at the range. It cost a little more than Wal-Mart bulk or the like but not more than a buck or two a session. It's not like you'd be able to handload in a dorm anyways. :rolleyes:
