Nice. I need to get me a pistol.
You know the guy that dealt the hand was burried near me here in Cincy. You used to be able to drive by the cemetery and see the aces and eights on his tombstone, but I havent seen it in a while. I wonder what happened?

I've always liked that revolver too ClemBert. One of these days I'm gonna get a pair, as soon as I quit buying other stuff (2nd Gens, R&S, Dance, shotgun, ...........)

Geeze, I didn't know Bill Hickock placed bets with European coins! Did they have Euros in Deadwood?
January 6, 2010, 02:47 PM
Those aren't Euro's or European coins....try again.

OK, pesos or whorehouse tokens?

That isn't an authentic Wild Bill Hickok revolver either. Nor are the playing cards from that century....nor is the backdrop, etc. etc. etc. In fact, back in those days I don't think they had color photos nor digital cameras to take the photos nor internet forums upon which to post the pic. Guess I really screwed up.
Guess it was a mistake to post a pic in this forum. I didn't realize the scrutiny that some will put a fella though. Sheesh! My bad.

Hey if it helps I liked the pictures even if Wild Bill didn't have a camera hanks for posting think I'll check that out.

I don't care if you use bus tokens and a deck of old maids,,,,it's a good pic. And a fine looking shooten iron you got there too.

I liked that so much I ordered one from Cabela's. *!SIGH!* -- it's on backorder.
Oh, also ordered a "Hickok" holster for it.

Hey, I'm just a little picky about authenticity and noticed that the coins didn't look like gold & silver (especially the ones with the bronze outer and nickel centers). The gun looks great though. Many of us that revel in the "olde tyme" black powder guns are also students of Old West history and are on the lookout for those things. Sometimes I can't help myself and meant no insult to the picture poster.

Well....no harm, no foul....
It would have been difficult to come up with an authentic shot due to all the things I mentioned previously. Was just having fun with a camera and it was just meant as a fun shot and nothing serious.
BTW, the answer as to what type of coins those are: Canadian coinage. I used them because I don't have any real coinage from the period. I figured they were as close as I had, in my possession, as to what I imagined old money might look like. If you look close at the bronze/silver coins you'll see Queen Elizabeth.
