I just received a catalog from SKB today. Those are some nice looking over&unders. Are they same quality as say a Browning Citori or Beretta Onyx
or Ruger Red Label? Also If get a O/U would i be better off with a field version,or a clays model?Prob 85% of its use would be clays.

I bought the 30" Clays version of the GC-7 in August and couldn't be happier with the gun. I don't anticipate any issues with the gun. I have about 5k rounds through it since august and it is still nice and tight. They are John Bull strong.

According to threads over at trapshooters.com and shotgunworld, it looks like the Japanese factory has closed its doors. The guys at SKB USA bought out all the parts, the name, the intellectual property and are looking for a new manufacturer. I haven't called to verify anything, but here's a link to the trapshooters thread.

They are up there with the Beretta and Browning. (The Ruger is not, IMO).

For clays, get the target models - a little heavier (a good thing), typically longer barrels (another good thing).

I own two field models - and they work great for birds and some clays now and again. They're just somewhat too short in the barrel length for my taste in a target gun - I prefer 30 and 32 inch barrels for that

I have three SKBs now (500 O/U 12ga, a 505 O/U 20ga and a 200E S/S 20ga). I have had and sold a couple other SKBs. IMO a great gun at "reasonable" price. They fit me better than Berettas and I don't like the Browning combined safety/barrel selector. I much prefer the SKB way of separate controls. Some do not like the recoil-operated trigger re-set, since if the first barrel does not fire the trigger won't re-set for the second barrel, but it's not been an issue for me.
