Are there any other good muzzle brakes that fit the large muzzle nut of the modern AK-74 besides the factory russian brake? Are there any that don't require indexing to the spring loaded pin, that you simply screw on? I am wanting experiment a little.

The factory commie brake is actually very good. I've tried my AK with the brake vs the flash hider vs nothing. There was a significant reduction in recoil and rise with the brake with no accuracy loss. The thread protector gives the shortest OAL and the flash hider had the biggest groups.
I usually keep the brake on the AK for rifle matches and such.
