Been looking for a set of grips for a stainless 1911. Came across a company that makes aluminium grips for the gun, called Alumagrips. Anyone out there use them or tried them? They got a grey/olive colored set that I think would look good on stainless.

I've got a pair on my Kimber, like 'em. Like the looks of good wood but always concerned about scratches & dings.
Search the archives at www.1911forum.com majority of the people who have them like them.

I love them! Very durable, comfortable. They come in smooth or checkered, different colors, full and officer-sizes, magwell or bevel cut. www.alumagrips.com

I have some black, standard checkered on my SA TRP Operator and love them. Fit is perfect and a huge improvement over the grit finished grips that the factory ships with the pistol. They are machined fron solid blocks of aluminum, not hollow like I expected. They can be ordered with square bottoms (for magwell) and notched for ambi-safety.Now if they would just make grips for SIGs and Berettas, I would be thrilled. Nice and inexpensive as grips go.

I have a pair of slim-sized ones on my Colt's OACP and they are very nice. They look, fit and feel wonderful. I will probably be getting a normal sized set for my GM soon.

Edited to add pic.

Here's a pic of them. Its my daily carry so the gun's finish is marked up a bit, but the grips are still pristine. Note that since they are slim, the plunger tube is unsupported. This is not the case on the standard size grips, i.e. they do provide good support.

Don't own any yet, but I've spoke with the owner a little bit. Great guy, really loves his product and stands behind them.

I too sing the praise of ALUMAGRIPS. They are well-made, beautiful and give my hands a better tactile feel then wood grips.

They are excellent in both hot and cold temperatures and allow for a contolled grip in wet weather.

I have them on each of my 1911 pistols.

Here is a photo of a set of initialed ALUMAGRIPS on my Cameron Custom Commander:

Since everyone else is adding a photo, guess I will too. :D
shepsan - if you ever get tired of yours, send 'em on over; they already have my initials on them!

Ah Sisco, my wife Marie has first dibs on them since her initials are the same as mine.

By the way, you and I have another thing in common. I tired to upload another photo on this post it failed to display. Will try again on a separate post.

Speaking of engraving; I had a pair with the blank oval on them, took them to a local trophy shop that does laser engraving. They said they could put any design I wanted on them for about $10.
Sold them before I had anything done with them.

I love mine, although mine are a little "pimpish"-polished aluminum on a parked gun.

I was interested in Alumagrips also. I went to their website and checked out another site they linked to that does custom engraved alumagrips:
GunGrips.net (http://www.gungrips.net)

I ended up going with an ivory-polymer set instead of aluminum:

I really like them! :D
