I like your new break-in procedure. You may be on to something : shoot a hog, clean the barrel, shoot a hog, clean the barrel...
Good shooting.

6.5x55 has earned its reputation putting rounds down range at very modest velocities. Not to say a little extra velocity hurts its performance though.

not a max load, I think it was .5 to .7 less than max. Depending on who'se max data you look at :)

Timbertoes, I got the exact same rifle you got in 6.5 and love the hell out of it. I got a 3x9x40 Leupold on mine, I put all my larger caliber guns in the back of my safe now. if you are like me, that is a fair size pig but I know me and you got pigs that make that one look like a baby. as for eating them, I wouldnt waste my time on one that big, about 60-80# is all I'll bother with and that will only be the hams, maybe the backstrap. most I leave lie. here in central Texas we are infested with them and anyone that posts that they wish they had them will wish they never seen them. I shoot Hornady SSTs and they get the job done, I guess you must reload. I got too many guns to reload for allthem. my Tikka T3 will shoot 1" groups easy and my shots around here might be from 100-300 yards, I think you will agree, great gun, great caliber.

Great Rifle, Great Caliber choice. I have been thinking about one for a while. Congratulations on the excellent hunt.

thanks, I do like the tikka very much.

an interesting experience, that 2 reloads one load for 140g, and another for 100gr bullets, both were sweet accuracy, right off the bat.
