I am looking at a Remington 700 P in a .338 Lapua. It has a 26" barrel steel barrel with an intergral muzzle brake, 40X trigger group, HS stock, looks like AI 5 round magazine and bottom metal, 9.5#. Does any one own one or have any solid information on this rifle. I have searched the internet found some limited information but not much in reliable solid information.

Anthng you have woud be helpful. I do know that they are a limited run once in a while something like the 5R.

Thank you

They were available 2 years ago for a short run and had factory ports near the muzzle. Not a threaded muzzle brake but the laser cut ports.

I am aware of the MRP and the RACS but this is not either of them. It is a 700 Police in .338 Lapua. From What I have been able to tell from a little digging is that it was made after Aug/09. The MRP i have heard will be in the $7K range if and when it is offered to non gov agencies or personnel.

The .338 Lapua is for reaching way out and touching someone. Is that what you need? If it is that's is a good round and a good rifle. Be warned everthing in that caliber costs big, from gun to loading equipment and components.
IMHA they are trying to market a rifle to appeal to use if the 50 cal is killed in congress, it can't do anything a 50 can't and the 50 can take out a generator set at 1000 meters and .338 Lapua might, but is really ment for soft targets at long distance.

For significantly less money you can get a Remington 700 XCR in 338 RUM.

The 338 RUM round outperform the Lapua for way less cost.

7k? There is not a remington out there that is worth that I would go with a Sako TRG42 for about half that and have a better gun hands down.

Well I ordered one and it just came in. It looks good with a excellent fit and finish. Now I need to order optics as I have a 20 moa base and rings already. Unfortunately I cannot play with it yet as I am working at the Olympics up in Canada till the end of the month. But I have ordered 200 cases bullets etc for it already. Thank you for your replies and coments.

You are way off on the price, and they have been available to the public for quite some time. I've seen them for less than 2k, but here is one.

MRP /= MSR.

The rifle in the linked video is the Remington MSR, which has yet to be released. Stated retail is claimed to be upwards of $7K for a basic rifle, with complete packages going for over $10K.

I had the opportunity to shoot the MSR, and wasn't overly impressed. It's fairly well built, but the ergonomics are kinda weird - the pistol grip is placed so far back from the trigger that I had difficulty just getting onto the trigger face. It wasn't exactly a proper test of the rifle's accuracy, but the results weren't exactly overwhelming.
