I was wondering whether you guys believe whether there is a
significant performance difference between the guns of the two
different manufacturers especialy regarding reliability, or whether the preference boils down to brand loyalty or something else as frivolous? I already made my decision I purchased
a Remington 870 Express with a 4 shot magazine(4+1) and am happy:):):) with it so far, although I am considering getting a magazine extension, however if I need more than five shots in a HD situation I figure things are probably going to turn out badly anyway. Thoughts?

one thing, your gonna have to dremel the mag retainer dimples out if you want a extension on there, ill let someone else explain that part, imo i like the mossberg better, for the easy location of the slide release and safety and how there is no shell lifter to pinch your fingers on. its pretty much preference all guns will fail if not taken care of properly (this is where you guys with glocks and ak's come argue lol)

I don't usually hassle people like this but did you think of searching first? There must be like 1000 threads on this already.

Anyways, they're both fine guns.

now that we have that out of the way, I'll assume your search tab is broken.

You do not have an "870" in the classic sense just like someone who has a 500 doesn't have a 590.

Comparing your gun to a 500, it's about a dead heat overall.

Comparing a 590a1 to a Rem870p or Wingmaster, it's about equally even there as well.

If you want an extension, I can personally vouch for Choate's quality and customer service, and most brands that make extensions (Scattergun Tech, Nordic, Choate) are good, but I'd AVOID Tacstar. I used to support Tacstar, but not anymore. Cheesy product, cheesier customer service.

If everyone searched instead of posted this board would be really quiet.
