Does anybody have any loads for the Missouri Bullet Co. 30-30 lead bullets they would be willing to post?

Or anybody have any 30-30 loads using Unique?

I have never loaded Unique in a 30-30, but according to Lyman's manual this is what they list.

170 gr. RN
Unique powder
Start - 7.0 grs. 1211 fps 19,800CUP
Max - 10.6 grs. 1568 fps 36,000 CUP

I always used IMR 3031 for my lead loads.
22.5 Start
28.5 Max.
Shows to use a CCI #200 primer I jsut used Wim LR primers.

I always just used the Start load since I was just punching paper. But it was good out to 300 yards.

I shoot 10 grains Unique under a 170 cast bullet for plinking.It's very accurate at 50 yards,haven't shot it at 100 yet....most of my plinking is 50 yards or less..shorter walk to reset the targets. :)
YOu get 700 rounds from a pound of powder,and get some real fun shootin'.

165 grain gas checked, my own cast, and 10 grains of Unique. At 50 yards they are as good as any jacketed bullet. They're also great bullets if you want to practice free hand shooting. That's what I use them for.

150gr RCBS FN w/check in front of 10.5gr of Unique. At 100yds, cain't be beat, but at 101yds, drops to the ground.......:D :evil:

Best propellant choice for cast bullets in .30/30 and most other cast bullets in centerfire rifle calibers is SR-4759. It is bulky and very nearly fills the case, more uniform velocities and pressures, thus better accuracy.

16.0 grns Alliant 2400 under any 165-200 grn cast bullet. The powder is position insensitive, and pretty accurate in my old Marlin 336.

I use 9grs of Unique with a 170gr Laser Cast bullet out of my Win 94. Kinda a low power, shoot off the back deck load. A lota fun on cans in the yard. The only problem is, the Laser Cast bullets are too hard. I get leading in the first few inches inside the barrel.

I'm running some .311-sized Missouri Bullets right now, working my way up to the max, 10.0 grains of Unique.

I started with 7.5 gr and then 8.0 gr. Both are noticibly softer than factory stuff, sounding and feeling more like a stiff .22 Magnum than .30-30. The groups were good - sub 2" at 50 yards, but 6" below the POI of factory 150gr remington.

I think this will be a fun plinking load. I have a pound of Unique to play with. When I burn that up, I might pursue something else. If I can find it, I want to try 2400. I've heard good things about Accurate 2230, also.

Leading is often caused bu undersized bullets . Next time choose some .311" - .312" bullets & give them a try . WyrTwister is right. Try slugging your barrel and see what size you really need. I had problems with leading until I finally gave in and did it.

The bullets are .310. You'd have to pound them into the bore as they are that hard. A bullet too hard for the application is another major source of leading as the bases don't orbitrate when fired. The first few inches of lead in a barrel but clean thereafter is a classic sign. Undersized bullets generally streak throughout the barrel. A lot of levergun users have this problem with store bought bullets and low power loads. Bullets that work just fine once you bump them up to higher velocities. Example, my 44 mag levergun will lead a little the first inch or so with low power loads. Full charges leaves no leading.

I wanted Unique loads because I got a 8 lb. keg for Christmas and I have a few 30-30 cases but I have never used Unique in a rifle only in pistols, unless you count 38/357 lever guns.

The light charges sound like they might be fun to play with.

I just wish they could shoot past 100 yards by back stop is at 102 yards, I guess I need to move my rest closer :rolleyes:

If you've got 8 pounds of Unique for a 3-30 I'd say you're just about set for life.
