Speer .38Spl+P apparently; picked up a good handful at the range the other day.

I heard nickle-plated cases will start to flake after a few loads.

Flaking nickel was a problem years ago, but not these days. You won't get as many reloads from the nickel cases as you will plain brass cases, but they're fully reloadable, and will clean up quicker than plain brass cases will.

Hope this helps.

I went to the range once and they must have had some security guard or police qualifications. Every lane at 7, 15, and 25 yards had a small pile of that same type of brass. I must have gotten 1000 rounds of .38 Spl nickle cases that day. Load and trash them when they split. The range would pick them up sometimes and sell them for $10 per thousand........wish I had bought a few thousand more when they were still available at those prices!! This was about 6 years back.

They are nice cases and you should enjoy them; but do watch when you reload--check the mouths of the nickel cases carefully, because they WILL split much faster than plain brass.

Awesome! Thanks guys. It's not a whole LOT, but hey, something's better than nothing. Probably have about 150 cases.

So load them until they fail. No need to scrap them because they may fail later. Speer is good brass.

That's the plan! (Once I get a set of dies) Thanks again everyone.

I have some that I have reloaded so many times that the plating has worn off the brass everywhere but in the stamping on the base.:D Several of them have split but are readily found. I lost track after 40 reloadings and it was used LE range brass when I got it. Good to go and as stated cleans easier untill the plating wears off.:)

I do not like plated cases. They don't last near as long as brass. I think they are thinner than brass also. You can tumble the plating off just trying to clean them up.
