Being new to red dot pistol scopes, I have researched brands, qualities and sizes, but have seen little information about the size of the dots. For .22 caliber target practice and/or competition, is it a good idea to purchase a red dot scope that has the capability of producing several sizes of dots or will a scope with a single 4 MOA (or ? MOA) dot be sufficient? TIA

For target shooting it is nice to have and adjustable dot size. I have an UltraDot 4Dot model that works great.

What you do is adjust the dot size so that it almost covers the black of the target. This makes it much easier to spot misalignments.

Bullseye competitors at my club seem to like the Leupold gilmore dot.

I have been told that for bullseye pistol, which is shot at 25 to 50 yards, for both .45 and .22 guns, it is best to get the smallest dot size availible
which seems to be 2 moa or 3 moa.

From my research that leaves the Leupold, and some of the multi dot size scopes.
