I purchased an M98 style Herter's receiver and bolt. I believe the model was XK3. The receiver is commercial style. Seller had added military shroud and bottom metal to make a saleable lot. This model did not use the conventional Mauser ejector box and bolt stop. Instead it used a different mechanism that hugged the action similar to ones used on Browning FN Safari rifles. The Herters one, however attached with a screw forward of the ejector slot.

I cannot find a replacement bolt stop/ejector mechanism for the Herters import. I've tried Numrich and other online gun parts sources. If I could find or obtain the Browning version I might be able to adapt it.

In lieu of an actual part I can fabricate darn near anything, but need some drawings or pictures of a working mechanism and/or parts. Can anyone help with a picture of the parts from their Herter's or Browning FN rifle?

Find a copy of Frank DeHaus "Bolt Action Rifles" There are some pretty good pictures in the book. I also own a Herters XK3, mine in 270 Winchester, but my bolt release is the conventional M98 style and my action is a Zastava. Some of the actions were built in West Germany. Minor variations abound in the Herters XK3 and J9 models.
