I have just bought a 1948 Winchester Model 74.It was in very good shape visually. It had not been cleaned. It extracts shells fine but tried to feed more than one shell at a time.I took the bolt apart and cleaned it very well. The arms on the cartridge cutoff were dirty.I polished the feed ramp and cleaned all parts good.Loaded 14 rounds it cycled fairly well but catch's the spent shell in the action sometimes or key holes the bullet and wedges it in the action. What parts would need replacing ??It is all original parts at this time.

Thanks,The spring is under the magazine tube in the stock. The tension is good. Was wondering what the stock setting should be for the timing screw.I am replacing the bolt spring,Firing pin spring,Magazine tube spring, trigger spring that was missing, and the cartridge cutoff ears both sides.
What part of NC are you from?I grew up in Johnston County
