I've had some problems finding an original rear sight for my High Standard HD Military. I was wondering if anybody has ever tried using an aftermarket sight (Millet, Bo-mar, etc.) on a HD Military. I really don't care if it is original;although, I would prefer it to fit in the factory dovetail without machining the slide.

I think the Ruger MK II rear sight has a larger base, and could be cut down to match the dovetail on the slide. That way you wouldn't have to modify the slide.

I'd call the good folks at Millett: http://www.millettsights.com after carefully measuring all the relevant dimensions of your HD Military.

I am afraid that the MKII sight would not work because my front sight is not even half as tall as the Ruger's; however, I am going to check out a few more current production pistols to see if I can't find something to adapt to my HDM. Thanks for the idea. As soon as I can next week, I am going to contact Millett. Thanks to both of you.
