My first 1911: Comparison photos with my CZ 75B

I just acquired my first 1911 via trade with a local shooter. The 1911 is a Springfield Armory Mil-Spec model in the parkerized finish. I havenít yet been able to shoot it, but I love how heavy and solid it feels. My other full-size handgun is a stainless CZ 75B. I always thought of the CZ as being a very large gun, but itís smaller and slightly lighter than this full-size 1911. (Itís a bit lighter when empty; I didnít weigh the two guns with full magazines.)

Hope that you enjoy the photos. :)

You have reached semi-auto Nirvannah: a CZ and a 1911.

Shoot. Smile. Repeat

Two very nice guns, great for range and ammo choice. Nice photos too.:)

Your CZ is incredible! Where did you get those grips? I want that gun chambered in .40!

Oh yeah, the 1911 is cool too :)

M&PVolk: Thanks for the compliement. The grips are made by Hogue. I've tried a few of the wood grip options for the 75B, and these seemed to be the thinnest ones available. I'm a small-handed guys, so thinner is generally better for me.

I have a Mil-Spec and I love it. But, I must say, I couldn't take my eyes off that CZ, very nice.

Awesome.

Now, you need to get a nice set of contrasting grips, to make that pair even MORE special.

Your CZ is incredible!

On looks alone I'd take the CZ. But I'll bet the trigger's better on the 1911.

Forgot to add, nice photos.

What model of grips is that on the CZ? Might have to try a set.......

The CZ is a reasonably thin handgun. I've never carried mine, but it's a very good gun. I've fired many rounds through mine. The DA trigger is pretty far forward for me. I'd consider carrying it cocked and locked but the safety is small and hard to reach on the draw for me.

I carry a full sized 1911, I prefer the easier concealability of the slim guns and the "cocked and locked" carry.

I agree, you have a very capable pair :)

I don't like the looks of the CZ. Its unfortunate because those are my initials, hence my screen name CZ223. I do like their rifles though so I will eventually end up with one.:) Back to the Mil-Spec. I just picked up a GI Monday and took it to the range today. It worked flawlessly. I hope yours works as well. I suspect it will.

The CZ actually looks like a better finished firearm in these photos. Does anyone know if they make the CZ 75b in .40 with the matte stainless finish? I know you can get it in satin nickel, but that stainless looks perfect.

beautiful guns. Funny, i just took a similar pic the other day with my standard Springer 1911 and new CZ 75D compact. Two of my favorite guns.

TMann,

Both pistols look great. Nice photo work too.

I agree. There is no pistol I want to like more than the CZ75, the gun feels so good in the hand, but I have the same problem you mention. The 1911 trigger and thumb safety fit me perfectly.

That's the problem with these online boards, they create a need that we never otherwise knew about! ;-) I think all of the online boards are a secret plot by the gun companies to sell more metal, LOL.

Of course, I don't read any of the gun rags anymore, so that approach doesn't work.
