Spotty Brass

:banghead: I did something pretty stupid. I was storing a bunch of GP-11 Swiss brass in those little plastic boxes in hopes that
Berdan primers would someday be available again. I happened to check some of these the other day and noticed that some of them have what appears to be small rust spots on the outside of the cases. I think what may have caused this was storing them in my garage which is not heated. Plus the fact that I had set up a spare saltwater tank for storing extra water for a 200 gallon aquarium. I believe the over spray from that tank may have cause the spots on this brass. My question is, should I dispose of this brass or hit just remove the spots with some steel wool and use the? I don't see any spots inside of any of the cases, just on the outside.

It depends on how deep the corrosion is. If it's just some surface tarnish, then you can just polish it off, but if it's serious cancer and goes deep into the brass, then it's weakened to the point where the case is ruined. I have the same problem here on the coast, where we don't drink water, we just slice off a piece of air and chew on it.......

Hope this helps.
