Does it have to be Harris?(Bipod)

Does it really have to be a Harris bipod? I have looked at Harris and Winchester. The Winchester looks like it will do the job for half the price. I figure it cannot be half the bi-pod. For plinking target practice on my 308--will the Winchester do the trick?
Thanks

Heck, a bag of rice works for me. And it's easier to adjust.

i 2nd the bag or rice...cheaper and more adjustable too
if you can't afford the Parker-Hale bipod...possibly the best available...a nice copy is the Versa Pod. if you just want something to looksand carries like a bipod and not spend much money, get a couple of sticks and some cord...really

i wouldn't advise using rice. if and when it gets wet it will expand and you will no longer have something that will allow for the minor adjustments that you did before. the set up is called a sand sock. don't use sand either. i go to wal mart to the craft section and get the very small craft beads and fill up my "sock" with as much as i need. they are impervious to the elements.
now on to the bi pods. i don't use bi pods on my rifles as the context in which i have/ use/ train with them i don't have a need for them. however before i did, and i had a wal mart brand it worked but the screws would work themselves loose over time of shooting. i got a harris and a good mount and i have never had that issue afterwards. it is sitting in my builiding and i don't know the last time i used it.

I bought the Winchester bipod for now. And it is what it is. Gonna try it a little later and see how it holds up. It looks like it will do the job. I was using sand in pillow cases.
