Thanks to everyone for clarifying some last questions (link here (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=498671)) before I take the plunge into reloading. I do have one last decision to make that I'd like some advise on.

I've got everything in hand or in route to start except bullets. I'll be reloading 9mm, 45acp, 38 spl and 45 Colt. Is there a caliber that is more forgiving for a novice? Also, is cast, FMJ or plated easier to start with? And is one shape better to start with?

Thanks for the help.

Start with 38 & 45 colt, cast or plated. The auto can have feeding problems, start with fmj.

Probably .38 Special is the most straightforward to load. Cast SWCs are good. I do not like plated bullets in revolvers, they have no crimp groove or cannelure for a proper roll crimp.
