Has ANYONE had any dealings with this .223 pistol? I am considering the purchase, I cannot see spending $1000 or mors for an AR pistol when I can get the KEL TEC for $500 & I like the idea of no buffer tube. Is the KT worth the price? Any help would be great!!:banghead:

IMO, the PLR-16's are well worth the money. I've had mine for a couple of years now and am very happy with it. It's been accurate and reliable with any and all ammo I've tried, it's light weight and easy to handle. Mine rides in the front seat in my gear bag when I'm on patrol. If I need something with more power, reach, and accuracy than my sidearm or need to bail it's right there at arms reach. I keep it loaded with a 20rd mag and have 3 spare 30rd mags in the bag. Mine has an Eotech sight on it and it is accurate to much longer distances that I'd probably ever need it for.

I'd take a PLR-16 over an AR-15 pistol every time. The operating system is cleaner, the barrel is longer but the overall length is shorter, there's no buffer tube to contend with, and they're a helluva lot less expensive. You should check ktog.org, they have a ton of info on the PLR-16.

Here's mine posing with my AR, they've both gotten new optic since this pic was taken.

I have two. Love 'em. Extremely reliable, surprisingly accurate and just downright nasty looking little weapons. Only downside is noise; a 9" 5.56mm is VERY loud.

Get one, you'll love it. But the handgaurd and 3 point sling are a must.

See the videos on youtube...these seem to work well.

I have two PLR's. I liked the first one so much I bought a second one.
I also own the Bushmaster Carbon 15 AR pistol.

The PLR has the AR beat in almost every way.

I like mine and feel it's definitely worth the price. You can't get much more evil looking and compact firepower for $500.
Get a flashhider and wear your ear protection, the sucker is loud and makes impressive fireballs without one. I also think the KT foregrip like the pics above show is necessary if you plan to fire it other places than a bench, it's a pistol in the loosest sense of the word.

Neither could I.

WOODROW, I have to say I agree with everything WC145 has to say about the KelTec PLR 16. I bought mine for recreational purposes and it is one of the most fun guns I own. WOODROW is willing to trust his life to it so I think that says a lot. I added a few extras including the forearm, muzzle break and sling.
I decided to put a center point sight on it myself since my needs lean more toward the CQC category ( IE: home protection ). No matter what you add to the frame I strongly suggest you add a sling. It will help immensely with muzzle stabilization. It is a very simple unit and easy to clean. I cant imagine the AR providing you $ 500 more worth of fun, performance or value.

I have wanted one, I just haven't found a way to justify the money.... granted, I can justify that purchase much faster than justifyying an AR pistol.

I bought one in January, primarily thinking it was going to be a toy to play around with in the winter. I could not have been more wrong. The fit and finish is very good, NO squeaking, no gaps (much better than my colt ar15). Magpul PMAGs snap in and drop out no problem and I have not had a FTE.

Call me impressed.

Since SBR's are illegal here in MI it makes for a perfect substitute. I'll go out on a ledge and say the PLR16 is more wieldy than a SBR.

I want one, it fills the cool factor gauge completely.

I got one and am very impressed. Real 100 yd capability, 2900 fps (IIRC), takes standard AR mags, very nice takedown system. Mine has a tendency for the bolt to stick closed in storage. This leads to resting the bolt handle on the edge of a table and hitting (!) the back with a rubber mallet. Last time I put it away I gave it a little extra oil, we'll see.
I got it because I thought it was just the sort of weapon to be included in a possible ban.
