Should I be using magnum primers for my .222 loads when using Blc(2) and h335 powders? The Speer reloading manual says so, but I have looked at or own 3 other manuals that make no mention of using magnum primers with these powders. Would I need to get a different part for my ram prime to seat the magnum primers?

Lopezni, you will get disagreements but I have used standard SR primers in 223 with Olin 748 and no difference in accuaracy was noted. The 222 will call for less powder than the 222. Some will give advice to not use Remington 6 1/2 primers.I use with 748 and good results. Byron

You're going to have opposing views on this issue, but I use magnum primers with ball (spherical) powders.
As long as you use a starting load with magnum primers and work up, you'll do fine.
You could take it another step, and load starting loads with the both types of primers and see if it makes a difference on target and over a chronograph(if you have one).

I have had best results with mag primers & H-335 in .222 Mag.

My Sako heavy barrel in .222 Mag can tell the difference, and it prefers them.

Your rifle may be different of course, plus the .222 has less case capacity.

I've had such good results with the CCI#41 (harder 450) that I now use this primer exclusively for all my SR needs

I havent been able to tell the difference between Mag primers and normal ones in my .222 Rem Mag.
