Today a guy at work starts a discussion with me. He knows Im big into RKBA and the such, and an avid collector.

He says this...." Hey, Ive got a buddy selling a rifle. Its uhhh...... a 308. G.... something".

I say "G3 ? Like HK G3?" .

He says..."Yea, thats it, HK.....uhhhh...... G3, he wants 600 bucks for it" .

I say "I've got cash and Ill see you and your buddy tomorrow for sure".

So, with that said, Im going to look at this gun first thing in the morning. I hope its not a Cetme, but I dont know squat about HK rifles. What do I need to look for??? Identifying markings? Numbers in certain spots? I dont even know the difference between a HK 91 an HK G3 other than they look identical.

C'mon guys......help a brother out.

They're basically the same as a Cetme.

If it's built by Century, I'd give it a pass.

If it's built by Hesse, I'd not even consider it to give it a pass.

If it's built by someone competent, $600 is a good price.

Look at HKpro.com for info on the actual HK products and identifying them - as well as legal issues.

Clones are hit and miss, for $600 see if you can shoot it first. Get the info on what it is, markings, etc., and do your dilligence.

Right now you don't have nearly enough to go on.
