I bought a chargemaster 1500 rcbs yesterday and set it up last night I tried to calabrate it just like the directions said and when i put the 50g weight that it came with on the plate it just says error. Also i did'nt use the powder pan just like the directions said. I have sent rcbs a e-mail because there hours will be impossable for me to call them and i have heard it could take up to 3 days to get a answer, so has anyone ran into this problem before. If so i could sure use some help.
Thanks bw

Just to clarify how you are calibrating it.

Push the cal button.
0 will display after it is stable.
Push cal again and wait for 50 to display.
Place 1 50 g weight on scale.
When stable push cal.
100 will come on display.
Place both 50g weights on scale.
When stable push cal.
After it beeps remove weights and you should be good to go.

Basically put whatever weight on that is currently displayed, and push cal when stable.

Mine must be different:
with the unit turned on press CAL
then press YES
after the ZERO display is stable press CAL
when asked for the 20 g weight place it on the platen and press CAL
then it should ask for the 50 g weight
remove the 20 and place the 50 g weight on the platen and press CAL
then it should ask for the 70 g weight (place the 20 on top of the 50)
press CAL and then it will ask for 0 weight
remove both weights and press zero
once it settles you can add the pan and tare to zero.....

Strange I think i have gotten an error before, but just started over and it worked fine. If you weigh the 50g weight with out calibrating what does it read? Then both?

Wow that is way off. I would check that it is level. Turn any other electronics off. Keep cell phone away, turn off fluorescent lights, anything and everything. Leave it on for 30 minutes, maybe try a different outlet. If not would have to get with RCBS.

Remove the platen and check for debris in the hole for the load cell. Then re-install the platen and rotate it until it feels like it is seated correctly.
